On August 12, 2026 Eli Lilly filed six federal lawsuits over retatrutide — four of them against research-use-only peptide vendors. It is the most consequential legal action this market has faced. We track it from the dockets, and we update this page as filings land.

What Lilly alleges — and why it matters to every vendor

Lilly alleges the “research use only” label was a pretext: that the sellers supplied dosing instructions, ran consumer-facing storefronts without prescriptions, and served buyers who intended to inject the compound themselves. Retatrutide is still in Phase 3 and is not approved by any regulator anywhere in the world.

The critical detail is the legal framing. There are no patent claims and no trademark claims in any of the six. Lilly pleaded state consumer-protection statutes — Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Washington, plus Texas common law. The RUO disclaimer isn’t being treated as a defence. It’s being treated as the misrepresentation.

These are allegations. No defendant has been found liable, and as of this update none has filed a public denial.

Docket updates

Aug 12 — six complaints filed; Lilly publicly calls on platforms, payment processors and regulators to shut the market down, citing 14,000+ listings reported and 200+ referrals to authorities.
Aug 19 / Aug 25 — Aesthetic Envy and Striker Pharmacy execute waivers of service, pushing responses to roughly mid-to-late October.
Aug 27 — Fifth Circuit affirms for FDA in the tirzepatide compounding appeal, closing the shortage-based compounding route.
Aug 31 — Lilly files an amended complaint against Astra LLC, the only amended pleading in the set so far.
Sept 24 — Seventh Circuit oral argument in Lilly’s separate case against FDA over whether retatrutide is a biologic.

What it changes for the board

Nothing here touches the compounds this board actually tracks — BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu and the rest are not the subject of these filings, and none of the vendors listed on this board is a defendant. What it does change is the bar. These companies weren’t sued over product quality; they were sued over marketing conduct. The vendors worth your money are the ones publishing real third-party testing and keeping their research-use framing honest.
